Connor “conman” mclennan
Melbourne based, Chicago born muralist and artist CONMAN (aka Connor McLennan) explores the conventions of commercial media through his practice, re-contextualising the longstanding traditional art form of sign painting through a contemporary lens. Drawing from his ever-growing archive of printed ephemera, CONMAN’s realism renderings boast dynamic compositions thoughtfully abstracted in a dense layer of distant yet familiar iconography. Shaped by his work in advertisement and media, scale plays a significant role in CONMAN’s process - with 8 years of commercial mural experience paired with a fine art background he works to contemplate the line between art and advertisement. When painting murals CONMAN likes to draw from the imagery and history of the place he is painting.
